DV2008 AOS Interview

I had my AOS interview on August 27th 2008 for the DV2008. My Interviewer requested that I submit one more document before she could approve my case. I overnighted the requested document and due to the labor Day holidays, the officer was only able to receive the document on September 2, 2008. Today is Sept. 19 and I have not heard anything and neither has my online status changed. Iam getting worried because the end of the fiscal year (30th Sept) is just around the corner. Could somebody kindly help? By the way, Iam an F1 student (I-20 expires next January) and Iam in Seattle, WA.

Hi, fmuyumba ! I'm sure you looked over the DV-AOS-2008 thread. My suggestion is to take some steps that were recommended there many times.

1. Write to your local congressman/senator office : explain your situation and ask for help (they can make an inquiry and find out what's going on). For me, the congressman office sent an inquiry the same day i contacted them.
2. [You can do that same] Make an infopass as soon as you can and try to find out if they got the document and if there's anything else that you can do. After my last infopass, I also sent a letter to the uscis local office director - again, explaining the situation and asking for help.

I'm not sure what the specifics of your case are, but the deadline is closer and you should be approved (I think there are enough visas left for this year).

Your namecheck is complete, right ? I mean, according to you, there's no reason not to adjudicate the case, right ?

This is just my opinion. I hope it helps. Consider posting your message in the AOS-08-only thread also. You'll receive a lot of support/advice from everybody there. :)

Thanks

Hey thanks for responding to my plight. Now, tell me; how do I contact my local uscis Director? Where do I fgind their contact address.

In my case: when I had my InfoPass appointment, I asked for the director's mailing information. They gave me the address of the office where I had the InfoPass, so there was nothing new there. You can ask them when you schedule an InfoPass. Otherwise, address your letter to "<city> Local Office Director" and send it to your local office. The letter will make its way to the director.
