DV2006 - H1 renewal

Hi,

I received my DV2006 letter. I am curentlly in US on an H1 visa. My visa will expire in December 2005 and I can extend it for 3 years.
My question is: do I need to extend my H1 visa or it is not needed since I will be filling for AOS in October 2005?

To be safe so that you don't go out of status and jeopardize your GC, extend H1 and once you get GC you will just abandon H1 and be a permanent resident.
