DV visa problem ( Iran/Middle East/FBI checks)

I am a so called winner in the DV2006.
I am from Iran, my interview was in late August 2006 ] in Ankara.
I paid all the fees for me and my family. We had our interview as scheduled and the officer told me that we are OK and we were going to receive the visa, when we get our FBI check results.
I was given a number that I needed to check when my FBI check is ready.
I continuously checked the web site and did not see my number.

In October, I emailed them to check the status of my case.

they emailed me back that : the fiscal year of 2006 end in September 2006 ( a mouth before my email & 6 weeks after my interview ) and they no longer can give a visa to me based on DV-2006.

I have done everything they asked me to do and in a timely manner- no delay on my side.
my Visa number AS****7XXX was current since July
I traveled to a different counrtyto get medical check and interview.
I spent lot of money on fees and travel expenses.
Based on the estimated time of FBI checks, which is 6 weeks to 6 month., There was no chance of me receiving the result before September 30th to began with.
They should not have accepted my case or
They should have asked for an expedited FBI check...but they did not do that.

I know if I was from any where else that not required FBI check I have been in US now!


I need any advice that you can provide to how follow up on it.
Should I get a lawyer for this?
Any chance of m getting the visa?
Do you know any body with similar circumstantiates ?
Any organization that can help me on this?

Really sorry to hear that situation.
But i wonder why you did not call ankara in september or july to verify your case . if you followed the embassy web site that publish the appointment date then your wrong most probably occured as so many interview date do not publish on it as far i know.

Anyway why you were under FBI check. you had been in USA before your interview?
I will sit for the interview in june or july so in this case i am also afraid of this issue. i have never been in USA by the way.

please enlight us if anyone have got experience about it. plzzzzz

I am so sorry for what happened to your case. As far as I know the due for what you could have done was September 2006. Unfortunately, some of DV2007 winners will encounter the same problem too. The FBI check is a real problem for those whose numbers will not be current soon.

Just for your information, I should say that so far just a few of those who have been interviewed for DV2007 visa for Asia region in Ankara have been passed the FBI check.

What we, DV winners, should always keep in our mind is that, the whole process is based on luck and Iranian people have lower luck due to some additional problems such as FBI check, etc. So, I believe we shouldn't think that we will be green card holder until we pass the whole process.

I am so sorry for this problem,this is the real bad point for iranian winner,but i think its not late now and you can share this problem with a lawyer,please share your your experiance if you do anything or this problem.I pray for you and another iranian winner,i am also winner of dv2007 and i think it could be our problem too.
