DV Visa issued in June, is it risky to go to the U.S by the mid of Nov? (almost 6 months)

Hello everyone!!!,

I have been on and off in this forum for a year. Thanks a lot for great contribution of anyone here who provides great valuable information for new coming, especially Gerindo.

Again, I have few more questions to ask and will be appreciate if anyone can give me some information.

1).It has been a month since I and my wife both got DV visa from DV2009 issued on June 1st. However, to live and stay permanently in the U.S, there are so many errands to do and prepare. We are unable to go as early as expected. The date we are most comfortable is around the mid of November, which is about 5 1/2 months from the DV visa issued date. I need to know if it is too risky of being reject at POE or the U.S immigration to be arrive so late like this?

2).Will this late arrival cause the delay in getting a green card?

3).As the state we are going is so close to Canada, can we go there even before the green card and SSN arrives? or should we wait until receiving the card in hand before going out of the country?

4).Can we also go to Canada on and off like every two weeks to see our relatives (just one or two day trip going back and forth)? Does it affect our chance to apply for the U.S Citizen in the future if going to Canada too often like this?

5).Is this DV Visa in the catory of conditional or unconditional visa?

6).The first greencard we receive will be valid for 10 years right?

Thank you for your contribution in advance :)

Only risk is if you get sick or flights get delayed or something. No risk with immigration. If it's under 6 months, you're fine.

2).Will this late arrival cause the delay in getting a green card?

No. Whether it's now or in November makes no difference. They will start the process of producing your green card when you enter the US.

3).As the state we are going is so close to Canada, can we go there even before the green card and SSN arrives? or should we wait until receiving the card in hand before going out of the country?

The visa you have in your passport acts as a temporary green card until you receive your actual green card (it is valid for 1 year after you first enter the US).

4).Can we also go to Canada on and off like every two weeks to see our relatives (just one or two day trip going back and forth)? Does it affect our chance to apply for the U.S Citizen in the future if going to Canada too often like this?

Yes you can and no it won't effect your chance to apply for US citizenship. The rule is that you must have spent at least 30 months out of the previous 5 years in the US to be eligible for US citizenship, so one or two days every couple of weeks won't add up to much.

5).Is this DV Visa in the catory of conditional or unconditional visa?

Unconditional (I'm assuming when you say "conditional" you are refering to the 2 year conditional green cards that are issued to people who marry US citizens)

6).The first greencard we receive will be valid for 10 years right?

Yes.
