This would be a very helpful idea. Please those of you who have had (or know of some other persons') experience of African DV winners interviewed in Europe, spare us your precious time and help us.

Lome

Hey all, This is an interview a friend who lives in Scotland, Aberdeen had. Hope you will find it helpful. She is from South Africa.

Great news we got our Green Cards and our passports will be back with us in a few days!!

The day went as follows:

7:15 Got to the Embassy (in London) and there were already 10 people in line
7:40 Went through security and entered the building
8:10–8:20 Called to a window to give our paperwork, fingerprints and pay for visa.
They only asked for our certificates and financial support
9:10 Called for the official interview
They made us lift our right hand and swear that what we were about to say was the truth.
Asked the following:
What countries we have lived in for longer than 6 months?
If we had any problems with immigration or the police in the past?
Asked my husband about his job and if they will transfer him back to the USA
Were we planning to have our baby in the USA (I’m 7months pregnant).

Congratulations you got the green cards, we just have to do our final computer checks and your passports will be sent to you in a few days.
9:20 Went to pay for courier service

WOW!!!!! It all feels unreal. I think it will truly set in as soon as I see the visa in my passport

hi guys, another esperience (interview) a friend had in London.

QUOTE (annelizeMcK @ Aug 25 2008, 08:29 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Dear Malamute, good luck for the interview, it must be just around the corner? You must give us the low-down about your interview when it is over!

Thanks, it is all OVER and I should receive my passport next week (3 - 5 working days, and I have paid the courier at the consulate)
The visa officer told me I am provisionally approved; everything is in order. This is 14 1/2 months after receiving my original DV2008 winning NL from KCC and 10 years after entering for the first time!

My interview was moved forward from the first date that they had set- I received a letter from the consulate a couple of weeks back (Fortunately here in the UK, your mail does actually arrive, mostly next day!!) that my date had been rescheduled to this week. It wasn't as convenient for me workwise, but, priorities, priorities, and of course I made a plan. Fortunately I had scheduled my medical well in advance so that was fine. (there is only ONE doctor in the UK who is authorised to do the medicals)

If anyone is going through the process through London, PM me, and I can give you full details of my experience.

I was in and out in 3 hours, spent 5 mins at the counter the first time around, 1 minute at the cashiers desk, and another 4 minutes at the counter the 2nd time around. Absolutely no questions, other than a friendly 'why are you wanting to go to the USA?' - no questions on documents or anything else' and no requests for any other documents other than the basic ones. London consulate is of course a lot bigger than Joburg, but things ran very smoothly.

OK, now I have to seriously start thinking of moving...............mixed feelings, as I am enjoying it in the UK for now, but I'm very lucky, and very grateful for this chance, and am grabbing it with both hands. I know how many of you are over in the USA on other visa types, and have a long battle to even get to the GC stage - so I do know how lucky I am!

Good luck all with DV2009 and DV2010.

I will like to encourage all the guys with high case numbers to remain calm. Somebody in South Africa with a case number as high as 2009AS66xxx. Lets pray to the Almighty God to help us.

Pls i would like to know how to do the finger print in the uk

Note: Police certificates from certain countries are either obtained on the applicant's behalf by the Department of State or are currently unavailable. Please visit the Department of State's website for further information. If you are required to have your fingerprints taken in connection with an application for a police certificate, the U.K. police authorities may be able to assist you. Residents of London or Greater London should contact the Metropolitan Police. Please visit their website for further information http://www.met.police.uk/scd/specialist_units/fingerprint_services.htm . Residents outside of the Greater London area should refer to the attached list for the location of the nearest police force able to assist them.

I am sorry, it's giving problem. Try it again here http://www.met.police.uk/scd/specialist_units/fingerprint_services.htm. I hope you find the answer to your other questions here. Before they make your fingerprints, you must exhibit your identity in the form of passport etc. Hope other guys in UK will throw more light on your other question.
