DV Lottery Visa - Can you use an app to take the photo?

There are a variety of apps that allow you to take a DV Lottery Visa photo. Are these permitted to be used? I notice a lot of the apps use AI to remove the background, and from reading the rules, digital alterations to photos are prohibited. So does that mean the apps can't be used? Or does anyone know of an iOS app that doesn't use AI to remove backgrounds?
 
As long as the image meets the Passport Photo requirements, I don't see why not. There are some free ones on the app store that you can check out.
 
Yes, you can use an app to take the photo for your DV Lottery Visa. However, the photo must meet all of the requirements specified by the diversity visa photo , which include specific dimensions, resolution, and file type.

If the picture is overly compressed will be disqualified? Also you can see the background was cropped.

Did you apply already? Cuz the last day to apply was the 8th. Don't worry too much about the photo, wait until you get selected first. If the photo wasn't good quality, it would have told you.
