DV lottery problems with entering and exiting the country

Hi All

I am a DV 2014 entrant curently on F1 status studying in the USA. Myself aswell as both my parents are entered for the draw. I understand chances of being selected are slim but just want to know where I stand if I am selected.

Currently I plan to go home after the semester for summer break, May 10, by then presumably we will know where we stand if we have a chosen entry or not. If anyone of us are chosen, am I going to have an issue returning to the USA in late July or August, would it be advised for me to stay in the country? FYI, I am under 21 so on their applications aswell. If my application is chosen, is it safe for me to leave the US and send form into KCC when I am back for AOS or is there anyway that me being chosen could affect me entering the country on the way back.

Good luck to all!

You should definitely wait until you come back to USA to send any forms anywhere. DoS already knows that you entered the lottery, but entering the lottery itself is not a problem (as long as you do not conceal that fact in a visa application). If you win they will know that too, so you could not get a visa renewal if you needed one. Entering the country could be a problem if the officer at the airport understands/knows that you are coming back on an F1 visa to do AOS. By law he cannot admit you.
