DV Lottery Instructions-Evidence of Personal Assets

win dv

Registered Users (C)
Hi team, I refer to item #34 of the 2012 DV Instructions relating to providing evidence of a combination of personal assets. What format is acceptable to prove the appraised value of a house and chattels (furniture etc.)?

#34. IF I AM SUCCESSFUL IN OBTAINING A VISA THROUGH THE DV PROGRAM, WILL THE U.S. GOVERNMENT ASSIST WITH MY AIRFARE TO THE UNITED STATES, PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO LOCATE HOUSING AND EMPLOYMENT, PROVIDE HEALTHCARE, OR PROVIDE ANY SUBSIDIES UNTIL I AM FULLY SETTLED?

No, applicants who obtain a DV are not provided any type of assistance such as airfare, housing assistance, or subsidies. If you are selected to apply for a DV, you will be required to provide evidence that you will not become a public charge in the United States before being issued a visa. This evidence may be in the form of a combination of your personal assets, an Affidavit of Support (Form I-134) from a relative or friend residing in the United States, and/or an offer of employment from an employer in the United States.etc.)

Thanks for your continued support:

This ?
I guess for a house you will have to show a paper that shows your ownership.
However, what they look for is liquid assets like the money in your bank account :)

Hi Jeffy14. i should have asked if they require a financial statement, listing all assets and liabilities. Well, according to the instructions "personal assets can be in a form of a combination of assets" which includes property (which can be converted to cash), inventory, cash accounts receiveable, car etc...not soley money in an account.

yes, that's true. But liquid cash is always a good thing to have.
I dunno many people who have a balance sheet about their wealth. =) You know many people who talk about their "inventories" or "cash accounts receivables" ?
Just show proof of ownership of your house, bank statements, letter from your bank etc...
Dont show the liabilities :)
It's not accounting lol
You need around $7000 minimum in your account not counting a house ;)
So I think if you have a house, it would do it :)

eheh no prob. Yes I am.
however, I would like to say that it's only an opinion that I gave you :)
If I were would I would get all financials documents that I have for the interview. Just in case.
If you show that you have a house, they may ask you if there is a loan/mortage associated to it. When a sponsor fills an Affidavit of SUpport for a DV winner, they ask for it.

on page 2
So I dunno how it works for an interview
I have no idea so be prepared or wait for someone who knows better to give you an answer :).
Good luck

Noted. I guess providing an Affidavit of Support in conjunction with personal assets will probably streghtening the case. Thanks again.
