DV Lottery Affidavit of Support or?

Hi,

Does everyone need a US sponsor for the affidavit of support at the DV Lottery interview?

The embassy in Tirana requires affidavit of support and tax forms from a US citizen or permanent resident but the embassy in Naples, for example, requires it for family based visas but it's not clear if they do for DV interview.

If you're born in a country but live in a different country do the rules change for the DV interview based on your nationality if you have the interview in the country of residence instead of in the country of birth?

Has all of you had to have a US affidavit of support from a US person? Is there anyone from Albania that has experience with this?

There are a couple of embassies that require an I-130 for DV applicants as a matter of course, though most don’t (although may still require one if not otherwise satisfied on public charge concerns). My understanding is everyone in a particular embassy (= same country of residence) is treated the same, unless the country of nationality requires more extensive background checks or has other issues (such as travel ban countries).

I can recall one Albanian applicant we had here, @AldoBlack . Not sure if he would still get/respond to messages.

More embassies are starting to require the I-134. If you can get it - get it.
