Please I need help, my application was refused and I want to appeal, I wantto know if I can do so?. And what is the process and the procedures.
Thank you.
Akuoko

it was about a legal document, the cansulor failed to understand the document. I think I was right, I want to know if there is room to appeal.

What legal document would this be? In my opinion I would contact an Immigration Lawyer as soon as possible. They will be able to help you even more with the situation you are in.

don't waste your money on lawyers ..its gonna be worse ..better play again ..maybe you will winn again...NEVER PAY LAWYERS FOR ANYTHING ..IMMIGRATION LAWYER WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR YOU ..if the need be go to the US EMBASSY and ask to speak with the consul general and explain your problem ..

Hi Akuoko
Sorry about your refusal, but you have to give more details why consular reject your application ? did you presented fake document ? and more details so we can try to explain to you

have a goodluck

There was nothing wrong with the document. I am in Ghana.
I had a previous customary marriage which was dissolved customary in 2005. In 2008 I married my current wife who we have both traveled to USA twice together. We have two kids now. In Ghana customary marriages are dissolved by the two families and do not go to court. It is only registered with your district Assemble. Because the embassy needs a confirmation of the dissolution certificate from the court, what is appropriate is for the two families to file an affidavit to the high court declaring the dissolution which took place in 2005 and such document must be confirmed by the judicial service of Ghana. This is exactly what I did but the consular said my current marriage is a nullity or not a valid marriage pointing to the date the court confirmed the dissolution of the previous marriage which is August 2010, which means I had not dissolved the previous one before I married the current one in 2008
What the court certificate was sort to do was to confirm dissolution in 2005. But the consular assumed the date the court confirmed the dissolution is the final date of dissolution.

I can send these documents to whoever wants to have a look at it.
Akuoko.

Sounds legitimate. Don't bother with immigration lawyers. The DV program does not allow appeals but your best bet would be to email the embassy asking for an appointment to see the consul general and explain your case. The CO should have put you on consular processing to seek guidance on the issue before making a decision to deny you. So, if you were denied outright without CP, you may have a chance. However, if you had already been placed in CP and then later denied, don't waste your time. Just enter the lottery again this year.

Wish you all the best.
