DV-2013 POE on or after 1st October 2013

Hello everybody,

I'd read some old post here (DV-2008) and discovered that someone post their experiences, at least three people POE is after 1st October only medical exam not over 180 days, does it possible? Is it still valid now? If I'm not AOS, can we do that? Thank you!

Hello there,

As far as I understand the rules, you have to get your visa in the fiscal year, that is until 30th September, and from then, you have 6 months to enter the US and get you green card (LPR status). So in case somebody gets their visa in September, it's only natural that the 6 months for entering the US and get their green card could be in or after October.
I think you might be mixing up the deadline of getting a visa (30th September) with the actual date of getting the green card (within 6 months from getting the visa).
This is only my understanding, which could be wrong, seek expert advice for any decision you make.
