Hi all,

I have been informed of my interview at American Embassy a month ago. I have not been living in Hong Kong (I am currently in London) for the last 5 years and I wonder if that would affect my chance of winning a Green Card? I would not like to waste my application fee and all the fees incurred to find out I am not actually eligible.

I will be very grateful if you can share your opinion with me.

Thank you very much and good luck to everyone else who has taken part in the lottery.

Nope it won't affect anything since you only need to be eligible for if you were born in the country. If you were born in Hong Kong then you are fine and that is all that's needed, for me it was Japan and have not lived there since 3 and still passed. Good luck for your interview, tell us how you get on!

Thanks ProudFrenchJap. I am trying to get my fingerprints taken in London for my HK no criminal conviction certificate but it's a real pain as no local police office has the facility to do that and you can never get hold of the public access office. Ah well...
I will post again when I have better news. Fingers crossed!

P.S. Are you applying for DV visa too?
