i received my confirmation no through the post still i need to check by online. because i think i made a birth year mistake in lottery application.(but not sure). and i hv lost my confirmation no as well. now i need to check my birth year. so please tell me are case no and confirmation no same??? and can i ask kcc about my confirmation no??? pls help me...

Your post is not straight-forward and difficult to understand but I will take my time to explain things to you.
Confirmation number is obtainable once you complete the diversity visa lottery online application using the Form DS-5501 (Electronic Diversity Visa Entry Form) between the period of October and November each year. After sending your entry, you receive a confirmation number on the computer screen showing that your entry has been accepted/registered. You need to make a note of this confirmation number or keep a printout of this page to avoid losing this number. The confirmation number will be use to check your status on or after 1st day of July following your online application. You need this Confirmation Number and your Date of Birth used in the the application to check your status. NOTE: This confirmation number is not sent through the post.
On the other hand, a case number is given to winners selected from the online registration. DV applicants selected for further processing can expect their winning notifications letters to be sent by post between May and July the following year. Between 90,000 and 110,000 applicants are selected each year and given letters detailing their Case Numbers. From 1st of October each year, those selected winners are called for interviews according to these case numbers. This will continue until all the visas are used up midway through the program or after the end of the fiscal year (which is usually on 30th September).
So basically, everyone who completes the dv lottery online registration is given a Confirmation Number to check their statuse online after July 1 of every year. Only winners selected will be given Case Numbers for further processing of their application for visa.
If you have lost your confirmation number, KCC cannot issue you one (can't be replaced). If you have the Confirmation Number and can't remember the Date of Birth used in the online registration, then you cannot check your status.
