DV - 2008 Winner Help Please

Hi All

Congratulations to all other DV-2008 Winners and good luck for the process ahead.

I need some help urgently. My husband won the DV-2008 and received notification about the 12th of April, 2007 . He lives in the US as he is studying there and decided to send me the package as he trusts me more with those sort of things like filling out forms. I live in the Caribbean and have not received the package through the mail yet our number is
2008SA000004**.

I am getting a bit worried as I really want to send back the from to KCC. My husband faxed me the NL so I have that.

I know we need to fill out forms DS-230 for my husband, and myself and that my husband needs to fill out DSP-122.

Our son was born in the US although he lives with me in the Caribbean so I assume he does not need to fill out any of the forms.

Can anyone who has won DV-2008 help me and tell me what else I need to do. I got the from on the internet at www.travelstate.gov

However on form DSP-122 it says in upper right hand corner that it expired in 12/31/2006. Can I still use that form ??? Will we be disqualified for using it ? Called KCC and they said we can use it but I am still scared.

Besides the from what else do we need to send to KCC ? I see there is a space for pictures on DS-230 Part I. How many pictures do we need to send for each person and what do we do with them ????? Attach them or what ???? Please help me with the instructions as I have not received mine and really need to send in our from this week.

Do we need to send anything else to KCC besides the form and pictures ??????? Please help me . Would be very grateful.

the expiry date on the right top corner is application validity but it seems like the DOS has not updated their forms. you can also download the form from DOS.GOV. if the date is the same then you are fine.

your son doesnt need to apply but you will have to mention your child's name in the forms where they ask for the children's names.

Supa Nova, congratulations on your husband receiving the NL. I hope you receive the documents soon.

I believe you can get updated forms online but I do not know the address though. Try the site that sshakeny suggested.

Regarding the photos, it is one photo each with the names of each person written on the back of their photo (with a pen that will not damage the photo - they suggested a felt tip pen). We slipped the corner of our photos between the staple on the forms and it fit quite snugly; it could not be easily pulled out. I am not sure how others attached theirs. We did not want to use paper clips because that may ruin the photos when it is being removed.

I don't think you need to send anything else to KCC apart from the completed forms and the photos.

Read through the various threads, you will find lots of helpful information.

All the best to you.

Congratulations..

1- The form that were sent by KCC and the forms on state.gov are the same. On both (offline form sent by KCC and online form downloadable from the state.gov) DSP 122 forms in upper right hand corner printed 'expired in 12/31/2006', so don't worry. Dont forget DSP 122 is not for you, this form must be filled by your husband, because he is a petitioner.

2- DS 230 Part I must be signed by the relevant person, but DS 230 Part II must NOT BE signed. It is going to be signed during interview.

3- You will send one photos for each and just attach them to the forms, dont glue. BTW dont forget to write the names on the photos slightly.

4- Dont forget to write case number on the upper right hand of the each form.

5- You have to send the forms along with the bar code page. I don't know if your husband made a copy.

Dont worry..good luck..!

Hey Guys

Thank you soo much for your help. It is deeply appreciated. dragoman I have a question what is the bar code page and thanks much for your assistance ??????

super nova

The barcode page is a sheet of paper that comes in the NL package. It has a large barcode on it with the name and case number of the winner. You are instructed to send this page back to KCC with your completed forms.

called KCC

Hi

My Husband called KCC today to ask about this bar code page thing and they said that it is just an electronic form of the case number. They said that once you write your case number on all the forms it is not a problem.

They also said that it does not matter whether you send in your papers early or take some time...................I guess it is the case number that matters.
Howevere I would still like to send in my documents early but am still sceptical about sending in the documents with out everything as asked for since I don't want to risk being disqualified.

ANy ideas on what I should do ? Wait or not ??????????

Ofcourse bar code paper is for easy accessing to the files of the applicant. If you dont send it they will have to insert your case number manually.

About your question, if your forms are ready to be sent, what are u waiting for..? To receive the original forms that your husband sent?

Hi All,

I've just won DV-2008. Me and my husband have been living in the USA for about a year now. I have an H4 visa, he has an H1-B visa.
Does anybody know what do I have to do to adjust my and my husband's visa status? I've read a lot of websites about this but haven't found a detailed step-by-step description about what shall we do now. I'm very confused, please help.

Thank you in advance,
Dora

Fill out the forms carefully and accurately, make copies and send back to KCC ensuring that you inform them that you are doing AOS [otherwise your forms are sent to an embassy for consular processing.
You have to then wait till your number is current before sending the AOS application to the BCIS. The date is published in the monthly visa bulletin. For DV2008, this will not be until after Sept 2007. If you send in your AOS application before the date that your number becomes current, the AOS will be denied, but you can refile=No problem.
Barbara Lamb has given an excellent step by step for the AOS on this forum; search for her posts.
I wish you all the best; Congratulations.

I guess it won't hurt to wait a week or two again to see if you receive the original documents, however, if you have replacement forms and the instructions then you could go ahead and submit them. But make sure to keep that copy of the original notification letter because you have to take that with you to the interview.

For your peace of mind sake I hope you get the original documents soon.

All the best

You are right to be cautious. This is a rare opportunity and we all want to make sure we do not mess up our chances by making avoidable mistakes. All the best to you.

Please Help !!!

Hello, everybody!

I have the following problem: I received the first envelope for DV with CN 2008EU17XXX.:)
I am now in US with a work contract (J1 Visa/212E) and as far as I know, from DV forums, I should apply for the Waiver. If I apply for the Waiver, the company that hired me will not be to happy. They will fire me and I will lose my visa (that happened with others that applied for the Waiver). My big question is what can I do not to lose this chance to receive the GC? I already sent the first envelope, and I chose the place of the intervew in my home country (just in case they fire me and I have to go back home).

Please tell me what can be the best move I could make right now? Is there anybody that has the same problem? What is your plan?

I'm waiting for a response...please...

Thank you!

Hi madeleine,
1- Is there any problem by sending the documents by registered mail ?
2- how long of time it takes to know if they accepted me and will give me
appointment for interview, because i have to leave france to UAE after 5 months, so i have to know if i should extend my residence in france or not ?

1. No
2. It depends on your case number. If your case number is low, your interview is scheduled early. We don't know for sure when,
but you can estimate from the archived visa bulletin. KCC will send you appointment letter about 2 months before interview.
If you have "present address" change, you can contact KCC.
As for "mailing address," if your family can receive the 2nd package, I think address change is not necessary.
Your family just need to forward it to you. If you like to change it to your address, just contact KCC.
