DV 2008, fines, lawyers

Hello,

Last week I received a DV2008 notification letter. I have been living in the States for over 9 years. I came as a tourist (B2 visa) and I never went back to my country. Currently, I am out of status, but have no deportation, I speak the language well and I have a SSN and a driver's license. I am here with my son who is on a worker's visa. I have worked in the States to support myself and my son while he was in school. My question is: What do I do to increase my chances? Good lawyer? Pay fines? I would not mind paying fines but I am highly hesitant to return home and apply from there, as it involves a great risk. I prefer paying fines and going to lawyers instead. If anyone has faced similar issues, please help.

Regards,

HumptyDumpty

i dont think you qualify for a waiver. you have overstayed your visa for over a year and that means you cant come to US for 10 years. applying for this may put you into deportation proceedings so i suggest to contact a good lawyer to see if you have any options. :( sorry
