Only 41,761 issued .....too bad !!

I'm not sure whether these # s are TOTAL (AoS+CP) issued or 'new arrivals' mean ppl who actually did POE after CP.

Total : 41,761 => AoS: 1,440 and New Arrivals: 40,321

Principals, new arrivals (DV1) 21,439
Principals, adjustments (DV6) 884
Spouses of DV1, new arrivals (DV2) 8,957
Spouses of DV6, adjustments (DV7) 350
Children of DV1, new arrivals (DV3) 9,925
Children of DV6, adjustments (DV8) 206

Chk following for many other aspects (ex. how many from each country etc.)

Wow, that shows how in-efficient the US Immigration system is.

By law, these people are required to make every effort to ensure that all visas available in a FY are used up. I'm sure thas AOS + New Arrivals = Total no. of Diversity Visas given out in a FY.

They give out ~ 42,000 visas each year, and yet many CNs never become current. What a shame that is.

IN CASE YOU GUYS DID NOT NOTICE.

There seems to be another major flaw in the system. Of the 5,000 visas that are not used up by the NACARA program, the rest are supposed to be going back to the Diversity Visa pool. And if you notice the statistics, the NACARA program has not been using up any visas lately.

So what a shame that ~13,000 visas that could have been given out in a FY are never used.

A pity indeed!!!

I think that the 'new arrivals' means the ppl who actually come to US (ie POE s) after issued with visas at CP. The shortfall may be also due to some who get the visas but do not decide to come. So the 'actual' total # of visas used up may be higher. ( I psnally know at least cpl of ppl who did that for some psnl reasons)

Also, these #s may be from data available from say Jan '09 (can't be up to date for sure !!), and there may be some who still have made it to US by March 30th the latest (ie 6 mo s from 9-30-08 last day of DV 08)

Yes, that could be a correct explanation for the numbers. The fact that winners have upto six months to use their Visas (and some people deciding not to use their Visas) -- it could also be a reason why the numbers might not add up for the FY.

But even with those kinds of explanations, if we look at the numbers from the past years, I think it would be a reasonable conclusion to say that that all numbers are not used up.
