DV 2006, Sponsorship issues

Hi Everyone,

I've been worrying about the following. Can anyone be of help?

1. If, as a family unit of three, we intend to live with a family in one state and obtain an AOS from another person in another state, is this acceptable? Who then is the sponsor? Does the one we will stay with have to show any documentation too?

2. What then, is the Letter of Sponsorship?

3. If I am to show a bank statement, do the Consulate typically require it for the past 3 or 6 months or more?

Thanks in advance

regards

The sponsor is the person who filed the I-134 for you, regardless of where you live.

Its the I-134. See here: http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/files/i-134.pdf

Each consulate is different. You should call the consulate where your interview will be to be sure what they require. Are you going to the consulate, or are you doing AOS at the local USCIS office? You said you are doing AOS in your first question, and then you said you are going to the consulate in the third question. Which is it?

Thanks Curious George,

I intend to do AOS but i was just evaluating other options to be sure of what each entails. Thanks once again.
