Hello All,

I recently got my 10 year PR card based on marriage to US citizen. I will be eligible for citizenship in less than 3 months. However I have a DUI conviction from 2005. Arrested Jan 2005, final court date April 2005.

I also have a Public Intoxication arrest from 2001 where I paid a $25 fine for.

I know for citizenship they are looking for good moral character for the statutory period which in my case would be 3 years. Does that mean I am OK as far as being "in good moral character".

The DUI was a result of an accident where I hit a wall. I pleaded guilty to a simple DUI and got the following sentence.

180 days jail, 176 was suspended
1500 fine, 1000 was suspended
1 year license suspension
Completion of alcohol safety class

I completed all my requirements and have not been in any trouble since then, other than a speeding ticket.

Do I qualify to apply in February 2009 or should I wait till 5 years have passed? I would rather do it sooner than later.

Thanks for any information.
