Dudes, what to do if RTD was confiscated at POE?

I guess if you have a valid NP that's what they want you to use. But even if you do have it why would they confiscate RTD since you paid money for it.

So? you're now using NP? or you havent traveled again since?

Rentry Permit. I haven't traveld since but plan to do in March. They issued me a RP without the fee(returned my check) when I wrote and complained that the officer had no right to take a valid RTD from me.

Happneed to me in November. Tell us the details. What POE and everything.

It looks like some of the officers believe RTD only can be issued to asylees not even PR directly derived from that status. This is, I believe, incorrect. It happened at JFK. The officer actually was quite nice, but he told me that I can no longer use RTD anymore, unless, I applied RTD when I was an asylee and later got PR status.

Clarify Status Please

Hi Windywd, please tell me or make clear the status you were traveling on.

You came to U.S as a PR? or as an Asylee?

He told you PR should no longer use RTD?

Thanks for your answers....

Can you tell us if the class on your RTD is stated as Asylee or Permanent Resident?

Want,

It states that I am an "asylee" and I think I checked the right box in the application. But.... I showed him my GC.

I don't know, man.... Want, where I should submit my complaint?

Thats what the problem is. Its not the officer's fault, its the USCIS people who issued you the RTD. If you are PR based on asylum, your status on RTD should say PERMANENT RESIDENT.

If it says Asylee, any PR should return the RTD with the problem. This was pointed to me by my lawyer, even though mine didn't say that, I know of others who had this problem & RTD was taken away. The officer was doing his job because the class is not ASYLEE If you are a PERMANENT RESIDENT.

You can file a complain but in honest opinion, this case is different than mine. You got your RTD with a wrong class & should've returned it. It doesn't matter if you checked ASYLEE/PR etc on the form, its the stupid officers job to make sure they issue you a correct RTD with correct class.

So this is to ANY Permanet Residents out there. LOOK IN YOUR RTD, If the class says ASYLEE and you have a GC, the officer will take away your RTD and rightfully so.

You can return the RTD to where you sent your I-131 with a letter explaining what the problem is and they will issue you a new RTD.

This is very important because the POE officers take "CLASS" very seriously.
