Dual residency

I recieved my Australian permanent residency dec 2002. I did come to australia for a short while and returned to the US to continue my job. Meanwhile my US GC was approved in nov 03 (thru CP)and i continue to live and work in the US.

My intentions are to live and work in the US

I know i cannot maintain both Australian and US permanent residency and eventually would like to become a US citizen. However Australian residency rules let you be out of the country for up to 5 years Will my Australian PR have an adverse effect on my citizen application. I am debating whether to inform the australian consulate or just let it go.

I dont think australian residency would impact usa citizenship coz they are mutually exclusive events. But if you have decided to become a usa citizen in next 5 years then it would be advisable for you to give up australian residency by informing the appropriate immigration authorities in australia. This is purely my advise with some common sense (which people normally say is pretty uncommon).
