In the P3 packet that gets send by NVC, are the forms for
DS-230 Part1 exactly the same as the ones obtainable from
the web? Or is there a barcode or NVC case # on each of the
printed forms? The reason I am asking is I want to send
the forms to my parents for filling them out while the other
steps at NVC are going on. I am only goint to send the
completed DS230 once I receive P3 from NVC.

The forms DS 230 Part i & II that you get off the web and the ones that NVC mails as s part of P3 are the same. The only difference is that in the P3 packet is a barcode sheet which HAS to be used with the P3 packet that gets mailed back to NVC fro review.

As indicated by the other post the forms are the same. In
packet 3 , in addition to the forms you will also get a seperate
sheet for each of the applicants which has to be returned back
with the filled in forms. Remember the following:

The instructions are clear.

Write your case # at the top right hand corner of each paper
you enclose.

Keep the bar coded sheet at the top for each set.

I just want to comment on what you said. You were saying you
are going to send the forms to your parents!

What is the necessity ?

There are just few details which you may need from your parents.

* Their birth dates

* The place of birth for them.

Asking them to fill up as the following risks:

* The different handwriting.

* The legibility of what is filled in.

* The difference in date format.

Raju,

I don't know some of the info that is required on the form such
as address history, names of their parent's etc. But the main thing was I want their signature on them. Is that not required?

I am assuming that your's is an employment category Immigrant visa.

If that is the case, on DS 230 Part I, the information you need with regard to your parents is as below:

1. Their names in full.
2. Your mother's maiden name
3. Their dates of birth
4. The place where they were born
5. The current place of residence.

You don't need their parents names. You do not need their
signatures.

Question for Raju

Raju,

in one of your responses, you mentioned

sheet for each of the applicants which has to be returned back
with the filled in forms.

In our case, we received only one bar coded sheet and four ( 4 applicants) DS-230 part -1 forms from NVC. There was no 'seperate' sheet for each of the applicant.

Just wondering what sheet you are referring to? Please note ours is Chennai consulate.

Is it an issue we should be concerned about?

Thanks,
MBM

mbm,

I am pretty sure we received individual sheets for each of us.
Unfortunately I may have thrown away the copies that I had.

However as with all other processes, I think this process is
still evolving and if you have received just one bar coded sheet,
you should not be concerned about it. There is a possibilty they
may have changed how they do it.

The case number being the same it should be OK. But we would
hear from others too and that should give you a pretty good idea
about what is the current process now.
