For Item 25 - List dates of all previous visits to or residence in the United States:
I worked as a summer intern in New York for 3 months while i was doing MS in alabama. During that period, i was maintaining apartment in alabama, stayed in my brother's place in New Jersey. I am showing my internship in the list of employment, but should i show that i resided in New Jersey for 3 months in Item 25?

I believe A No. is Alien # which is not available F1/H1. So we dont have to specify anything for A No., Is that right?

Do we have to provide dates of each visit or is it enought if we just list our residences in the USA (I have made 6 trips and had 3 residences (not including New Jersey)). Or do I have to combine both?

For Item 3 - Full Name in Native Alphabet:
Can I leave this blank (or write N/A)? Or should i write it in Tamil?

For Boxes not filled, like 'If deceased, give year of death' or 'Address in the United States where you want your Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) mailed, if different from address in item #10', can i leave it blank or should I write 'N/A' or 'None'?

I read messages where consulate officers asking you to change all N/A to None or NIL; so should we stick to None/Nil, though the form asks you to write N/A if not applicable?

{ Mention both Alabama and New Jersey with their respective
periods. Not that they would go into such fine details, but you
will have the feeling of stating the facts }

I believe A No. is Alien # which is not available F1/H1. So we dont have to specify anything for A No., Is that right?

{ Since you would not have the Alien # , write 'None' }

Do we have to provide dates of each visit or is it enought if we just list our residences in the USA (I have made 6 trips and had 3 residences (not including New Jersey)). Or do I have to combine both?

{ Mention all entries and the periods you stayed. Just the name
of the city and state , with its respective Visa numbers }

For Item 3 - Full Name in Native Alphabet:
Can I leave this blank (or write N/A)? Or should i write it in Tamil?

{ This is not applicable for Indians. Just write 'None'. }

For Boxes not filled, like 'If deceased, give year of death' or 'Address in the United States where you want your Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) mailed, if different from address in item #10', can i leave it blank or should I write 'N/A' or 'None'?

{ This was one thing I was not happy about. I knew that both
'N/A' and 'None' need to be used based on the question.

However the directions are confusing on this. But as a final
word they want to see 'NONE' for all items where you are
not filling anything.

So write 'NONE' where ever there is blank space.

If an item has multiple lines and is going to be blank , just
put 'NONE' on the first row. }

I read messages where consulate officers asking you to change all N/A to None or NIL; so should we stick to None/Nil, though the form asks you to write N/A if not applicable?

My responses are in brackets.

Thanks Raju. I have another question.
I Received P3 from NVC last month. But I have added my wife now to the process and they will be sending a fee bill in a couple of weeks for my wife. The NVC operator told me not to send P3 until I send the fee.
What is the best course of action.
1. Should I send my P3 now and then send my wife's P3 after paying her fee bill?
2. Send both now?
3. Send both After paying my wife's fee bill?

I am trying to get an interview for september. But if my wife's fee bill is not paid when they receive P3, i am not sure if they will go through mine also. Is there any advantage in sending mine earlier than my wife's form. ( I will make a copy of barcode sheet and send it both packets)

Thanks

The option 3 looks better, since you were told like that by the
NVc and also I read few instances where seperate submissions
were not linked properly.

RE: adding spouse

Cannon576,

I have same situation as you do. I received Package 3 on 5/19/03 and sent Birth certificate and marriage certificate on
May 16. NVC added my spouse on June 02 and generate fee bill on June 09. I called to NVC oeprator several times. They told me after making sure your spouse added into your case and made photo copy of DS-230 Part I to fill both your and your spouse inform with separate sheet. Then mail back to NVC. You don't have to wait until your spouse fee bill is cleared or not. Operator said they will wait until fee bill is clear and then they will review DS-230 part I. But they say I can still send DS-230 part I first cause fee bill is sent to Saint Louis anyway. Making sure NVC added your spouse is most important cause you don't want your case is transfered to consular without adding your spouse in.

I am still waiting for spouse fee bill and my lawyer is typing DS-230part I still. I am planning to send both our DS-230 part I first and send fee bill to Saint Louis later.

How do you suggest?

re: N/A or none

cannon 76,

By the way, shall we use N/A or None? DS230 part I says that we should use N/A. Please confirm. Where do you get information from consulate officer.

Thanks!

mlin144:
I think we should use none, as Raju said, because the consular officers in india insist on using none or nil, though N/A is more appropriate in some places. i am plannin to send the forms by next week and hope to get sep interview at chennai.
BTW, which consulate are u going to ?

DS 230 part 1

Cannon:

For the question on previous visits to US, I just specified the month and year for each visa status, not details of each and every entry.

For Example

March 98 to May 99 F1 Full time student
May 99 to Dec 99 F1 Practical Tr
Jan 00 to present H1.

If you look at the date format on the form it is asking only for the month and year. For A #, NONE..

I did not have any problem during the interview.

Hope this helps
