Hey guys, have a quick question...
I have moved to Missouri from Illinois, my AOS pending. Today I went to check if I could get my Missouri driving license, but I was told that untill my AOS aprroved I can't do that. I have SSN, my current status is AOS pending. however they said it is not recognized for driving license purposes,
Would someone help me out,
Thanks

I'm afraid it depends on what state you are in. Some stupid states will only take a Green Card or EAD as proof of valid presence, other smart ones will take the Notice of Action (I-797C) for filing AOS as proof.

Missouri is clearly one of the "stupid" states.

Do you have a EAD Card?

If yes you should be able to get a DL

EAD+ SSN card should be enough

If they say no, ask for a supervisor and if you have a cellphone ,call immigration customer service on the spot to confirm the benefit.

Do all that in a civil way.

Why is that stupid? All an I-797 does is show that you've applied which means nothing. Anyone can apply even if they fully know they are not eligible. I suppose you could always ask people to give back the licence if the application is denied and we all know how effective that would be.
