Drivers license issues

Hi,

I got naturalized in August and I had to renew my drivers license in California. I was eligible to renew by mail/online but I went to the local dmv office as I changed wanted to update them. A month passed and I didn't get my license so I went to the DMV office and they said that they're trying to verify my naturalization certificate and its going to take time. I showed my passport and they took a copy of it and also the naturalization certificate and spoke to someone on phone and said that everything's cleared and that I should get my license soon. Now another month has passed and I still didn't get my license and I went to the DMV again and now they're saying that they're still trying to very my naturalization certificate/passport with DHS in San Francisco and it can take up to 6 months.

I preplexed at the incompetence of the DMV. If the dept of state has no problems in issuing a passport, why does the DMV have a problem with a license despite me showing my original passport. Anyone else faced this ? Any thoughts?

that's unacceptable. did you demand to speak with the manager or supervisor at the DMV?

does California require proof of citizenship(or new immigration status)
when you renew/replace your driver's license? even so, it should
not take that long.
