I am doing employment based gc - EB2. My interview is on the 20th of Feb, and I have already reached Mumbai.
Can somebody please tell me the details of the drafts that I need to take?
The application is for myself and my wife
So, how many drafts do I need?
What should the dollar amount on each be?
Where to get drafts from?
Who should the drafts be written to?

Thanks a lot guys - You guys are awesome!

No Title

go to the inidan overseas bank across the street from the consulate .
Have a look at the notice board outside the consulate to confirm the dollar rate ..it was 49 on Feb 1st.
In any case the guys at the "indian overseas bank" know exactly what amount / name to use ..
I dont remember the numbers ( in dollars ) of the top of my head ..
They are two drafts per family ...
one for application fee ( around 25 K rupees ) and the other for issuance fee ( around 6 K , I think ) .

wantAgc - read this please

I heard that we need 2 drafts per person, and not per family. So, for myself and my wife we will need a total of 4 drafts...
That\'s different than what you are saying
what\'s the correct thing to do?

you are right - consulargc !

you need 2 drafts per person and one draft (if chennai) per family for the blue dart courier service.

Application vs. Issuance

RXH is correct. Here\'s how it works. There are two kinds of fees: application fees and visa issuance fees. Everybody who applies needs to pay the application fees. So we can have only one draft for all the family members. However, only those who succeed need to pay issuance fees. Hence you need one draft for all the successful members. Of course, we assume (and hope!) that all members will get the visa. So, we need two drafts, one for combined application fees of all applicants, another for combined issuance fees.

Good luck!

It doesn\'t really matter

As long as you have separate drafts for application and issuance. But for Blue Dart it has to be one draft.

Confusion abounds guys - let\'s clarify

Guys,
Even in this thread I am getting conflicting answers - so let\'s close this once and for all. Let me be more specific

1. Interview is in Mumbai - so no need for blue-draft, since they give u passport in hand personally. Correct?

2. I am planning to get 4 drafts
  Draft1: For myself: $260
  Draft2: For wife: $260
  Draft3: For myself: $65
  Draft4: For wife: $65
Is this ok?

3. There might be possiblity of combing the drafts like this:
  Draft1: For myself and my wife: $260*2 = $520
  Draft2: For myself and my wife: $65*2 = $130
Is this ok too?

Bottomline do both scenario 2 and 3 work?
What have people done in the past

I am planning to go with scenario 2 - So, please respond specifically if you used scenario 2

Thanks
-Let\'s close this baby!

Drafts Issue

Hello,

I already issued 4 drafts: 2 each for my wife & myself. does it matter that much as long as I pay the fees? i think that should be fine with them.

you are right !!! I think Rajesh Paul was

referring to Chennai consulate. If it is Mumbai, you don\'t need bluedart draft, since I understand they give it by hand.

good luck

yes thats fine ..

They guy who does the money collection is at counter #13 .
He does some sort of addition by pen and paper ..
I think even if you had 6 drafts , its fine , as long as it adds up.

Sorry if I caused confusion with the Blue dart thrown in

But to answer your question, as wantAGC has said, scenario 2 or 3, both are fine.
