Hi,
I thought my case was strange when I received 2 FP notices for different dates and different application centers. If I had followed the advice here, I would have gone on two different dates and might have been at advantage if both went through and if one of them expedited the "Name Check".
Here is the flow of events in my case.
1. [I and my Wife] Received notices to appear for FP at Baltimore, MD on Sep-07-2004 @ 11:00 AM.
2. A week later both of us received notices to appear for FP at Silver Spring, MD on Sep-16-2004 @ 3:00 PM.
3. After some initial confusion called National Customer Service center and spoke with the staff and was told that The silver spring office was closer to my zipcode and that is why they sent the second notice. Therefore I need not entertain the first date and I should directly goto the second one on Sep-16-2004. Thanked all GODs for clearing this up. [I did not note down the name of the person who I spoke with or their extension......]
4. Based on past experiences of getting different responses from different staff members while talking to Phone companies and Banks, I wanted to call the NSC, but somehow missed due to various reasons.
5. Finally enlightened upon me on Sep-07-2004 @ 9:00 AM and called the number and guess what.... This time they clarified in detail with others and told me that I have to go to the first one, BUT.... take both the letters with me and follow the advise of the people at Baltimore. !@#$%^&!@#$%
6. Luckily I was only 30 minutes away from Baltimore and so drove immediately to the Application center and told them the entire episode.
7. They fingerprinted both of us and took both the letters and told us not to worry about the second notice. As I got the receipt for the FP on that day, I decided to let go.
8. In a week's time, my online status was updated with the FP results reaching Vermont. Thank GOD!!!
9. Now our cases [485] are transferred to Baltimore and awaiting the next adventure.....
Good luck to all.
NOTE: If I were you, I would go to the second appointment and tell them the situation. Let them decide and take an action. You could also call the NSC number [don't stop at one attempt, though. Call on different dates and make sure you get some "Consistent!!!!!????" answer].
