Hi,

One of my colleague filed for I-485 at NSC. But unfortunately they couldn't provide him with the I-485 receipt. The reason the lawyer gave was that BCIS was changing some rules at that point and so they couldn't issue one. Also, it seems the I-485 receipt cannot be re-issued.

The ND was around March 2003.

Will this cause an issue for EAD renewals??

Anyone else in the same boat ???

Please help.

Thanks,

If reciept notices cannot be re-generated, one cannot do anything. But getting to know his/her Lin number is partially helpful. Did your friend try to find out what could be his/her Lin number. The receipt number will be on the cancelled check, if one has submitted personal check.... There are some gurus in this forum who could add to this.....

Thanks for the reply.

He does have the LIN numbers. But he doesnt have the copy of the check which has the receipt number.

But for applying for EAD/AP renewals , it seems the I-485 receipt number and copy is required.

Can BCIS help if I call them ?

Anyone else in this situation ?

Here are my recommendations

boxerbhai -

1) Since your friend has the LIN number, go to http://www.uscis.gov and print out the online case status check for his I-485 and use that printout for his EAD/AP application. I got my EAD approved that way.

2) Did you sign Form G-28 to have your attorney represent you? If so, I-485 receipt notice would have gone to him instead. This was the case for me. I thought NSC simply messed, but it turned out that my attorney had it all along!

I don't have also I485-RN

I have not also recevied by I485 Receive Notice. But I got my EAD renewed, got AP approval(I had applied separately). You only need some notice (may be copy of finger print notice) will work.
