Done with interview, waiting for Oath

I had my interview yesterday and was recommended for Naturalization, the only problem being that the INS officer said that they are still waiting for one file on me and that I'll get scheduled for oath as soon as they get the file. He did have my actual natuaralization application with him, so I assume he had some file on me. He said there is another file they are waiting for. Does anybody have a similar experience?? How many files are there on somebody and is there something I can do to make the process faster? He asked me to check me back in 30 days if I dont hear from them.

Thanks!

You are almost there

Can you please share with us how the interview was conducted when the interviewer went thru your N400 application, is it like he asks question from the applicaton and you have to answer ?

Thank you.

The interview went very smoothly. Here is what happened -

1. Made me take oath to speak the truth
2. Went through each section of my N-400 and made sure that my answers matched with the application. He just glanced through the addresses, employment history and the trips outside US. I had applied unde 4 yr 1 day rule, but it did not cause any complications.
3. Checked my greencard, driver's license, asked for selective services proof. Did not even look at the passport or re-entry permit.
4. I mentioned my traffic ticket. No big deal.
5. He asked me 6 questions from the 100 sample questions, and I answered all of them. Made me read and write a simple sentence.
6. At the end he said I have been recommended for citizenship but they are still waiting for another file, so I should wait for the Oath letter.

I don't think there is any reason to worry about the interview.

Cheers.

citizen2004,

How many trips out of US did you have? were they long trips or short ones?

I have been hearing some changes with the interview questions on TV during the last two months. It suppose to be tougher and different. Did you or anyone know something about that? At your interview, it seems that they have not implement the new changes yet.

citizen2004,
1. For howmany years were you LPR
before filing N400?
2. Did one recent passport carried your entire travel record for last five years or did you ahve to carry older passport also? In that case did he examine both passports?

I have been an LPR since 1996. He just asked for the most recent passport and only glanced through it very quickly.
