Does your attorney charge you extra money for INS\'s RFE

I got RFE from INS and my attorney charged me extra money which I did not agree when I hired him.
He claimed that RFE is somewhat “extraordinary difficulty” and, therefore, he charged me more.
My question is that for those of you who received RFE from INS, do your attornies charge you extra money to respond the RFE?

Thanks.

You\'ve got to look in the contract of engagement

You have to review the Contract of Engagement that you should have signed, for what services are included in your lawyer\'s fee.
It\'s immaterial what other lawyers agree upon with their clients.

I don\'t

It seems that the attorney should have perceived these potential problems and set the fee accordingly. I have, occasionally, had to increase the fee that I initially have quoted due to what I now perceive as difficulties, but that is always before a case is filed. If I file a case, that\'s the end of it, and I would respond to any RFE, regardless of the difficulty, without additional attorney fees. There could be additional fees from outside sources (educational evaluation, translations, overnight mailings, photocopying, etc.) but there wouldn\'t be an additional attorney fee. It\'s possible to quote very low fees if you charge additional fees based on the existence and complexity of any RFEs but I wouldn\'t operate that way since it seems to provide an attorney with an incentive to draw an RFE and thereby obtain additional fees. I certainly do not mean toi imply that your attorney did this but it\'s why I charge a certain fee to handle a case through conclusion.
