Does US post office forward INS mails to our new address?

We just moved while our EAD and 485 are still pending in TSC. I got confused information about the INS mails. Someone said that INS does not allow US post office to forward their mails to applicant's new addresses, others said it is OK for post office to do so. Which one is true?

You must fill out the address change form and notify the INS about your new address (Its the law).
Also, I would not depend on the post office to forward my EAD or 485 documents.

I did so!

I sent AR11 to INS at London, KY. I also sent one copy to TSC (the same address I sent 485 to). I heard INS people always screwed up applicants' address. I don't know whether it's enoguh.

The best option would be to call TSC and update/verify the address on your EAD/I485 application. Also tell them that you sent the AR11 form already.

The INS mails are usually not forwarded (I verified with both the INS and the PO). If you have moved your INS mail will be returned to INS. However, if the address has been updated with the INS they will re-send that to your new address. We went through this exercise once, so I know. At the same time, I also know of one specific case where the PO forwarded the mail (probably a mistake by the mailman).

So update your address with the INS, either by phone or by mail. We did it by mail because it was difficult to reach them via phone.

they do

I got mine and my spouse's EAD card forwarded to my new address.
Inspite of updating the INS with the new address.. they sent the card to my old address and PO forwarded them.
If you actually see, the envelope does not read anything about INS. So, I don't think PO will know that it is from INS for them to not forward. But it is always safe to submit the change of address form to INS.

Best to call and verify

Verify your address with INS and update it for all your cases including I485, I765 and I131. Try after 2 pm eastern time. Don't depend on PO. In my case, the EAD card has been returned to INS because of not having last name in my mailbox.

I'm waiting for some mail from immigration... but I suddenly have to move. So I want to use USPS mail forwarding. I heard that the way it works is automated. The computer which sorts mail scans addresses. If its going to my old address the computer will recognize that and it will put it somewhere for forwarding.
