Does transfer of I-485 require re-doing I-140 again ?

I moved from Texas to Boston recently. My I-485 ( RD: Dec, 2000 ) is applied in Texas. In Vermont ( especially in the Boston office ), it takes less than 6 months for 485 to be processed. I have asked my lawyer to move my case to Boston. But she says that it cannot be transferred because then the I-140 has to be re-done etc.

1. Anybody who transferred had to redo their I-140 ?
2. Has anybody transferred from TSC to VSC - any problems ?

Thanks

hi

I dont think you need to redo your 140. My lawyer told me that as soon as the papers are moved, they give you a priority date just as if you filed your 485 in Dec 2000 in boston. As long as your papers are safely transported, you should have no problems. I double checked that with my lawyer. Can you post if u have other thoughts. We both are in the same situation.

Thanks

waiting is the only way out...

They will transfer only after they start looking at your papers. And that is where the delay is. Even if you make a request for transfer, they will not look at it till the time it is handed to a IIO. I have put in lots of time and effort ( past 2 weeks ) to see if the case can be transferred - but there doesnt seem to be a way except for waiting.
