Does this mean name check??

one of my colleague did enquiry for case status for I 485. The representative opened query, he received response with letter in one week. "...... The processing of your case has been delayed. we are currently awaiting the results of required security checks on this case"........
he also received FP (code2) 1 weeks back and scheduled for auguest 2nd week. He has sent this info to lawyer. I was curious, what could be, is this pending name check, or waiting for finger prints or some this else. ANy idea gurus..

Yes -- might be Name check and I think Biometrics and name check are unrealated to one another...

As soon as one files for 485 the name check and Biometrics kicks in ... The only problem with name check is we do not know whats happening with it...

I wonder how the FBI does it -- say if the name appears in there database -- do they go in for elaborate checks with the country of orgin? If so some cases might take years to be completed ...! What if very common names get into there databases ... shoot ... many will experience that -- extensive security checks for no reason.

I have asked him to use FOIA to get any records from FBI, as email or fax to FBI for name check status is taking long time.

the problem is he already used it before even filing 485. does redoing it allowed??
