Could someone with answer my naive question: Does Sigma Xi count as honor society for EB1/EB2? Thanks a lot :)

my feeling is that Sigma Xi is fine several years ago, but now may not enough, in addition you need to get senior member or even associate fellow ... in your own research area if you can.

however, membersip will be considered with
all other background of you. One of my friend
got his case approval without any membership,
since he is strong in other criteria.

do the best you can do ...

Generally, no it does not.

The membership should clearly require an "outstanding achievement". Sigma Xi's membership is based on potential or "noteworthy achievement". You should definitely mention it in your application but I would not consider this a good piece of evidence.

The regulation of memebrship critera is
"Documentation of your membership in association in the field which classification is sought, which require outstading achievements of their members, as judged by recognized national or international experts in their disciplines or fields"

I got the following comment from the director of NSC with my RFE about Sigma Xi:
It has not been established that the "noteworthy" achievements required of all of Sigma Xi's 5000 new members each year rise to the level of "outstanding" achievements required by this criterion..

Thank you very much for your response. And I know this sounds dumb, but did anyone get similar feedback from TX center? Thanks in advance.
