Does self calling invalidate congressional inquiry?

I called the senator's office today to inquire about the status of the congressional inquiry I had placed last month. Before doing that I decided to call TSC one more time to see if anything had changed ( the rude woman at TSC said it still was security check).

The senator's rep told me that I had invalidated the congressional inquiry by calling TSC directly and that she would have to resend the request to USCIS. Is that correct? Should I stay put until I hear from the senator. Its been a month and a half since I initiated the inquiry with the senator. Does anyone have any experience with this? The senator's rep also told me that she had forwarded my letter to the FBI.

Secondly, I asked the TSC rude woman to place a formal status inquiry on my case, so I could get in writing that my case was stuck in background check. The lady refused to do that. Is that common? Can they refuse. I didn't want to make her mad so I backed off.

I would appreciate your responses.

I dont think calling should invalidate the congressional inquiry. They dont keep any records of your calls..Regarding status inquiry..have you initiated any other status inquiry in last six months. if not then she cannot refuse it..try again and you might get a more helpful person at other end. I got to know about my security check problem on third try..first two times thay did not tell me anything more than what i already knew.."case is pending"

You could probably place a status inquiry easily by calling National customer service center instead of TSC.
All the best,
