Once you have applied for I485 and get your FP taken - what does Priority Date has to do with

Does PD matter after I485 ?

I have not known of anyone get approval without their PD being current. Now that does not mean it never happened, but come to think of it, PD helps queue applications since there is a limited quota. However, if PD is current then RD/ND and application completness determine speedy approval.
A friend of mine had applied for I-485 in \'97 when his PD became current. But dates soon retrogressed. He got his approval as soon as his PD because current again in mid \'98. I know of one other case during the same time period with the same thing.

What I Thibk is that I-485 could get approved , but visa will not issued until PD become current. In other words , just get all processing done and get the stamp immediately after PD becoming current.
