Does PD have to be current for CP?

My PD is 10/98 - EB3. Someone had mentioned to me that CP is an option for me. I filed my 485 in Jan 2000.
Havent recieved my FP notice yet. Am I eligible for CP

For I485 and CP, PD has to be current for you to be issued with an immigrant visa. Not sure about whether it also has to be current for you to apply for CP (as it must for I485).
