Does ND reset to transfer date?

I talked to someone at the National call center who told me that the transfer of my case to the local office effectively sets me back in the queue to the transfer date. That sounds so ridiculous.

My ND is Feb 1, 2001. My transfer date is April 30, 2002. She said that my priority date is now April 2002 and since they are processing April 2001 cases, I should not expect to see my approval for over a year.

Does this make any sense? Can they willy-nilly change your priority date just by transferring your case? Or is she blowing hot air?

Can't believe this crap

What the CSR told you was nowhere close to the truth. Irrespective of transfer of cases to local offices, receipt/ priority dates remain same. The problem with local transfers is if the case gets transferred to a Local Office where the waiting time is longer than the Service Center from where it was transferred, the file has to wait till the receipt date catches up with the Local Offices's current processing receipt dates.

For example, July 2001 cases of NSC should have been adjudicated, however, if the case got transferred to Chicago, which is processing June 2001 cases, the file has to wait for another month to catch up with processing date of Chicago Office.

Local transfer have worked to the advantage of some folks who got transferred to places where processing times are much faster than many Service Centers.
