Does my child (US citizen) need to be present at the time of interview

I was wondering if my 3 old child, US citizen, will need to be present during the interview process. The interview will be held at Montreal. From what I have read, I do not think he will need to be there since he is not applying for an immigrant visa. Is that correct? Your thoughts are highly appreciated.
