Hello,
I am Saul, I am 23, I came to United States 8 years ago back when i was 16. Political asylum was granted to my dad and of course my mom my sister and I for reasons that i rather not talk about. After 5 years we were granted Permanent residency. We have been told that WE should not go back to Colombia until we become citizens, just by random people no official authority.
I have been reading around the web and everybody says that If the person with political asylum goes back to his/her country, then its because they are not afraid anymore or they gave fake excuses just to get the privilege, I completely agree with this.
I am wondering what would happen if I go to back to Colombia, I mean, I believe my dad was the one who was directly affected by the situation back then and of course since he had to leave Colombia, he dragged us with him. So I don't think if i go back i would be taking any security risks. I know my dad can't go back since he was the "main petitioner". But can I? would my citizenship be affected if I go?
Thank you in advance for any advice that could be provided.
Saul
