Folks,
I received my IL, does it mean that the FBI name check is completed or I might get a surprise during the interview that the name check is still pending?

Thoughts?

If you have applied after May 2006 then yes, IV letter means NC complete.

Are you sure about that?

I continue to see instances (on this board) where people are saying that they have applied after 5/2006 and are stuck in NC even after interview.

Most likely, yes (because of the change in policy). But, the USCIS is not famous for absolute consistency.

Getting an interview is always good - even if you are still in namecheck. Once you get your interview done, they are on the hook for making a decision (and it can be possible to get the courts involved).

Just go to the interview with a smile on your face and tell the truth. Being in name check after an interview is better than being in name check and waiting for an interview.

I should have said "In most cases.........". Like Flydog said USCIS is not known for consistency.

During one Info. pass appt. the IO clearly said to me that after May 2006 USCIS stopped sending IV letters until NC was complete.

Quick question: If you applied for your passport on 1/26/2007 how did it get processed on 1/5/2007?

I looked around and could not find where I have my PP dates as posted by you.

Anyway for the record I mailed my PP application on 1/26/07 and received the PP in mail on 2/7/07 and I opted for expedited processing.

Usually I check the dates before posting and if you have seen the dates as posted then that one must have fell through the cracks!
