Does getting bank loan or being divorced affect F1 visa?

Hi,

Does getting a bank loan for studies or being divorced affect a F1 visa at the US embassy adversely?

The person is a female 32 from India.

Divorce should not affect at all. But if she is taking a huge amount of bank loan then it may affect. If you take a huge amount of loan the visa officers sometime suspect that there is a higher posibility of you staying in US for work after completion of studies to pay back that high amount of loan. But in case the loan is a partially contributing to the total available support then it should not be a problem. Generally it is preffered to show liquid funds (bank statements, FD's etc) for the first year of study and loan from second year onwards.
