Does GC holder need UK transit visa ?

Next month I am travelling to mumbai via London Heathrow. Do I need to obtain transit visa or USGC card holder is exempted from transit visa.

Absolutely no need.

You need to have the actual green card in your possession when you travel. I don't know whether stamping is good enough to avoid the transit visa.

You need transit visa, if your green card (plastic card) is issued before 1998.

(Many of the 1998 GC guys must be having a US PP).

Last month I was held in Dubai for 24 hours and remaining legs of my journey were re-routed (through Frankfurt Germany), during my return trip from India, through Emirates Airlines, just because I wasn't carrying my plastic(plastic sent to INS for my lastname correction - 485 approved in May 2003).
