Does entry refused amount to being removed, excluded or deported from the USA?

I (Australian with an ESTA) was refused entry to the USA because I was "unable to overcome the presumption that you were an intending immigrant". I have a letter from CBP saying I "have not been barred indefinitely from applying for admission into the United States" and "must apply to a U.S. Embassy or Consulate to obtain a nonimmigrant visa to reenter". So have I been removed, excluded or deported from the USA? Or, to put it simply, just refused entry?
