I applied for renewal of EAD(3rd one) last May. To this day I have not gotten it yet. My 485 has been pending over 2.5 years since Aug 2002. Last June my wife and I was fingerprinted(2nd one). Fingerprint cleared on June 12th.
I've been getting interim EADs in the meantime. But the district offices can only give interims for a total of 240 days. Mine expires in 2 days on April 27th. I've asked my Congressman to inquire about it since last month. They are saying now that it's pending background check, both 485 and 765. My question is does EAD requires background check? I don't think so cause I've got 2 EADs previously. What are your suggestions for my course of action now. Please help. I'm at wits end.
How long does background check last? It's been more than 6 months since my 2FP, I would think that would be more than enough time to complete a background check.
