Sorry for my ignorance. Does the change of address affect or slows or in other way impacts the GC processing at I485 stage, and the old and new address are in the same INS center. Any inputs.

It may trigger an interview

Hi,

based on my experience it might trigger an interview which in turn delays your case. this happened to me. as per my lawyer the change of address was the reason why they transferred my case to a local service center. remember if you do change your address pls file ar-11 and mail it as certified mail so you have proof in your hands.

I belive It may not be the reason. Whole group of around 30- 40 people was laid off from company including me. Most of us changed the address after moving. Except two cases no one got tranfered. All most all got the approval.

it depends...

i guess the query depends on the kind of move...for eg. you can move from MA to NJ within vermont service center...and you can also move from Cambridge, MA to Cambridge,MA or Newton, MA(next town)...

now in first case chances for rfe or local transfer is higher than in later case...i could be wrong but thats what i have heard and also kind of makes sense...expecially if you are moving from MA to NJ then they have reason to doubt you....

transfers

You are right mv1211. I moved from ME to MA. During my interview I was asked specifically if "I filed the form AR-11" If it is intrastate should not be a problem but you never know.

Believe me there is nothing like that. Why I am writing to this thread is because lot of people are wasting money just keep the address.
Earlier after answering to thread I went and checked company database since 1998. There were 12 transferred cases in those 126 cases. Out of 12 only two were moved from one place to another.

There were movements like NY to TX, Buffalo NY to CA, TX To GA etc. All of them have informed the INS and approved without transfer. It is the company's policy to inform.

There is nothing like moving one place to another causes the transfer.
