Does anyone know where I can find the INS document about asylee can work unconditionaly? My last EAD has expired in April and I need to prove that I don't need EAD to work any longer.

are you sure? The asylum suitcase indicated that among of the damages resulting from the long wait to adjust is the necessity of applying for EAD every year!!!! Please make sure you are getting the right information. If you look at the application for EAD, you will find a portion about asylee.
 
I have never petitioned for another EAD since 1994 when i got the first EAD card.I have never had any problem aquiring a job any where.The documents i have been presenting are the I-94 card showing employment authorisation,also a letter that shows proof of asylum granted.However i have a friend who wanted to renew his EAD he was advised by INS not to do so.I worked for AA airlines as a gate agent i did not have the EAD card but i got the job.I do not think you should be panicky.

I have a letter to me signed by an offical at INS central office in DC that says while the this policy is always subject to change, as of now asylees and refugees do NOT NEED TO HAVE AN EAD TO WORK. This is why we can get the normal social security cards.

The EAD forms have info on asylees and refugees because we can get an EAD if we want to waste $100 each year.

repeat, refugees have never needed to have an EAD. Effective last year, asylees are accorded the same right.

The only thing you need to do is apply a Unrestricted social security number.( Just update your old social security card.)

There is no reason why i should apply for EAD if i`m already authorised to work with proof of documentations from INS.I would spend my money anywhere else not with EAD.

Yes, unless the INS changes its policy (which might well happen), there is no point in applying for an EAD that is valid for only one year. I would donate the fee to the Red Cross or something.

The lawsuit that someone referred to has a lot of factual errors. The EAD is one. Another is the claim that asylees are uanble to obtain student loans from the federal government. They most certainly can and do.
 
Sessanga, I believe that clean SSN card and "don't need EAD to work" is a new development. So you took certain risk, that you never renew EAD and got lucky. (Personally nobody asked me about EAD too, but I always had it up-to-date). It seems that somebody gave you wrong information, as in the case of green card application. No offense, I did plenty of thingd beased on unreliable information too. Just shows how careful we have to be. I have that I received advices, based on false information even from so called "immigration services". People there sometimes are just irresponsible. I wish we had a message board like that 6-8 years ago. It would help us to avoid a lot of mistakes!

I am sure that clean SSN is enough, I just wanted to make a point, that since clean SSN are around for about an year, never to renew EAD since 1994, was probably too risky.
 
There is nowhere with immigration law that says that it is illiegal to apply a job without EAD.As long as you have a clean social then thats what you need.The only reason why INS advised asylees/refugees to obtain EAD is to make it easier not to go through hassles.Otherwise as long as you have a I-94 card that has authorised employment on it, a clean social card etc i don`t think you`re considered having commited a crime for not aquiring EAD.That is may be one of the reasons why INS changed it`s policy in this regard.It just doesn`t make sense to me,but to create unnecessary backload with INS.I`m glad i did`t pay all that money.
 
Yes, you do not need EAD now, after new low few years ago. I had read that law on Internet, then went to SS office and change my SS card for new one without restrictions(first I had to fight with SS people in the office, because not everybody new about new order yet).
So now I do not have to apply every year for EAD. But everybody should to do it before that law.
 
a slight correction

I do not think it was a new law. It was just a change in policy by the SSA and the INS. It was certainly a good one.
 
My SS says "valid only with INS authorization" I would like to change it to clean SS, Please can someone provide me with this policy change so i can take it with me to SS office to prove it?
