i inquired about my overdue I-485 (RD: 9/01) thru NSC 1-800 number... and was told that since my case has taken longer that 20 months (which i presume is current processing time for I-485), it has been flagged and CSC will be getting back to me in 3-4 weeks... last week I got a reply from CSC stating that:

The case has been assigned to an adjudication officer and once a decision has been made, I'll be informed by mail

do any of you guys got the similar reply... is it just the std. CSC reply for the status inquiry or should i be accepting something to happen soon?

thanks

It means that instead of sitting on the shelf (or even a storage room), your case is picked up by someone who should be working on it. Supposedly you will get something soon.

Similar reply was received three months ago, but nothing happened until now.

I've been getting similar replies almost every month over phone, fax, through my attorney, through senator's office and NSC inquiries.

Trust me, they started with this reply 9 month back. And I've seen all sorts of replies. This was one of the initial ones and then they started checks, which continues till today.

But you might be a lucky one to get your approval soon.

good luck,
