Does anyone (also hold US GC) apply Canadian Citizenship recently?

I heard that some one who has a US GC is palnning to apply for a Canadian citizenship.
 
I read some messages online saying US & Canada immi will share info. after 9/11

Personally I believe that if Canadian officier check your status in US, they can know you have a US GC. I heard from my friend that his friend\'s Canadian PR was surrendered when he entered Canada using his US GC only. They keyed in his name in their cumputer and told him that you have a Canadian PR also. They they told him that one can not hold two permanant status.
