Hi Guys,
First of all let me states how greatful I am to discover this informative website.I found many useful info here than anywhere else.
I have a question,I hold the Refugee Travel Document and I intend to travel to the UK with it.do I need a Visa for that??????????

thanks Guys. :) :)

Yes, you do. Check with the UK embassy about the supporting documents needed for visitor's visa. With the RTD you need visa to go anywhere, inlcluding Canada, and as I found out it was not easy to get the visitor's visa on RTD. Even if you a US asylee, the embassies of other countries often treat you like a national of whatever country you are from while giving a visa - respectively the chances of getting or not getting it. It is funny, how those things work - I needed to go the professional conference in Canada and Canadian embassy denied my visa twice when I was just an asylee. After I got my green card, I went there twice for fun - no problem. I am still the same person... Just different documents in hand. Anyway, it was a long refrain from your question. A person with the US RTD does not need transit visa to certain countries, but visitor's visa is needed for all countries (except US) :)

Was denied using your RTD right?
Once you got your GC, did you use your NP or the same RTD?

Using the same RTD. Once you have the GC, you show it to the Canadian officer on the border and they say " enjoy your visit". I had my RTD with me - I dont use my NP - but they did not ask for any other documents once they saw the GC. Even the GC I showed from the window of my car - they did not read it or check it or anything. May be now they will start asking for something additional from the US residents, and may be it is applicable to the air travel only. I travel there by car - it is a 2 hour trip. Funny thing, on the US side while returning from Canada, they asked me for my car registration every time (???)

If one has a Green Card they do not need to have a Passport or RTD with them to travel back and forth from the United States to Mexico, Canada, or the Caribbean.

I think a lot of people are confused about the new passport law. It does not affect permanent residents. It only affects US citizens.....

Yes and you will also be fingerprinted when you enter the UK. You will be taken to a separate room and they will fingerprint you & take your photograph.

This is done ONLY for RTD holders..and of every country.

My co-worker who is a US citizen tavelled with me to London and was also fingerprinted and had her picture taken. I don't think this was done just to keep me company. Then we both got stamps - she in her US passport , I -in my RTD that we have been inspected and are not authorized to work in UK.
:D
