documents to sponser parents as a citizen

I just became a US citizen after having taken the oath in Northern Virginia. I have a question about the documents required for sponsoring my parents. It would help if someone from India who has done the same could respond because as you know birth and marriage certificates are not usually available there.
I have a birth certificate from the Indian consulate in the U.S which states my birth date and the names of my parents. Is that enough to show that they are my parents when applying for sponsorship. Also the USCIS web site requires a marriage certificate when sponsoring the father, but not in the case of mother. So what document would help to prove this. Also please let me know about how to prepare the documents that my parents need to take with them for the interview when called in India.

Thanks everyone ....This forum has been a big help

peteg60,

My Nat. app. is still pending oath but I am also planning to do the same thing as you.

This is what I think you need at the minimum.

1. You definitely need the marriage certificate for your parents
2. Birth certificates of your parents - if not then affadvits from 2 (maybe 3) people attesting to the DOB of each parent and how they know your parents.
3. Your birth certificate, stating your parents names.

and obviously all the sponsorship documents associated with the I-485, I-130 etc.
